Ping Karsten Putter

The Ping Karsten Putter series was named after Karsten Solheim, the brand’s founder. This series, which is comprised of the Anser, Anser 2, Zing, C67, Piper, B60, and Craz-E, was introduced in October 2007. A lot of users find it hard to believe that this series, which is made by a renowned company, is under $100. Considering that one putter only costs $89, it is indeed quite a catch.

The Ping Karsten putter series is made for golfers who prefer the performance of a steel face with an insert feel. This offers a good soft feel compared to the inconsistencies of a putter with an insert face. The enhanced feel while still maintaining the solid response of a steel-faced putter is provided by the elastomer insert in the cavity.

For added forgiveness, the weight savings from the new cavity shapes are distributed to the perimeter to increase the putter’s moment of inertia (MOI). Since this line of putters is more forgiving, it allows off-center hits to be less punishing than they once were. This line from Ping also has what is called a multilevel alignment aid. The thin and rectangular top edge of the putter is contrasting to the aiming lines in the back cavity so the alignment is easier.

Of all the putters in this series, the B60 and C67 models are the simplest to use at address. They are better than those with strange lines, blue disks and shiny finishes. The Karsten has a sightline with an evenly proportioned cavity, which is a great feature when you have more important things to worry about during your game.

The cast steel head of the Ping Karsten putter line is a reflection of a classic Ping. When you try one out, you will automatically identify the familiar signature sound and feel of the brand. All models in the Ping Karsten putter line give a fine solid click when you hit the sweet spot. The cast is made from Ping’s own mix of steel and Mojo (a scientifically proven swing enhancement system that is top secret). The line also has introduced very interesting head-covers, with a magnet inside that grabs the sole and keeps the putter snug. The series has excellent midsized grips that blend well with the head-cover. You will be pleased with this because putters of the same price range tend to have poor quality grips.

Choose from the seven heads of the Ping Karsten putter line because their performance is comparative to the expensive ones. Each Karsten putter is available off the rack in lengths of 33″, 34″, and 35″.
